PASKO SA SUGBO '08

As we headed to Mango Ave. to chill out and drink some cold Redhorse (YEAh!!), we dropped by at Fuente Osmeña Circle. We had a picture taking with the huge Christmas Tree sponsored by M. Lhuiller. We went around and looked for beautiful views. I eventually recognized cool designs of Lanterns made of indigenous materials. I have taken some pictures of the Lanterns I liked the most. There were Lanterns made of empty coca-cola plastic bottles, empty coca-cola cans, old cd's, chinese bamboo, and other materials commonly found at home.

Pasko Sa Sugbo is annual Christmas celebration by lighting & decorating the main thoroughfare in Cebu, starting from the Capitol Building down to Plaza Independencia. Other activities include nightly cultural shows by the different schools, parol, Christmas tree & daygon competition.

Part of the celebration is holding a contest showing the creativity of Cebuanos, the Parol Making Contest. Cebuanos were given the chance to display their personally-made "Parol" out of indigenous materials. The "Parols" are decorated on Fuente Rotonda to add beaty to the site and let the public enjoy as they visit the place. More and more people are going there to relax and feel the spirit of Christmas. If you don't have money to go to malls or spend money drink beer at bars just to relax, then it's a nice place to go.

HABAGAT Hawaiian Party Experience!

Sacred Heart Center, Cebu City- The annual gathering of Habagat family is an offering of enjoyment, give-aways and a party like no others for all Habagat employees. It was very successful and indeed a great experience for us On-the-Job Trainees (OJT). Together with Mariel, Daisy, Vernon and Rio, we have presented a comical skit in order for us to have grades (hehe..lol). The comical skit was entitled 'Everything". It talked about God's greatest sacrifice. We were very happy because unexpectedly we won. We were not supposed to be part of the contest but thank you to Maam Famela for helping us to be part of it. We were very overwhelmed not because they gave us a standing ovation but it's all because they have recognized God. They have realized how good is God and praise God for everything He did for the mankind. It was not for the prize, definitely. We offered it all for God.

It was the first time in the history of Habagat to let OJT get involved in the presentation. Were so much pressured because they expected a lot from us. Even our Gen. Manager was so excited and expected the best presentation. That's why we tried our best. Although, we have practiced only once but then through cooperation and concentration among teammates, it was made possible.

We were being given P3,000 pesos,1 pack of mentos candies, and a certificate of appreciation from the Habagat Management. All the muscle pains I had during the practices were paid back. I have performed the comical skit twice and it was another fulfilling sacrifice I did. What made me very very happy when Sir Lester's wife said to me with a smile on her face "Congratulations, It was very nice. I have the message". It made me even more proud of myself and my teammates for delivering the God's message properly.

Koobface Virus attacks Friendster Users

Koobface, which already made the rounds on MySpace, Facebook and is now worming its way through Friendster . The Koobface virus uses Friendster's private messaging system to infect computers via a shared video.

Friendster users are under attack from a virus sweeping through the online social network. The virus is technically a trojan worm that disguises itself as a message from a registered friendster user.

Once the virus is installed, it will try to grab sensitive data off your PC, like credit card numbers.

I was one of the victims of Koobface virus. I was enticed to click on a misspelled video or picture link that directs to a malicious web site. A video link (shared by an infected friend) was send with the message, "You look just awesome in this new movie." Clicking the link lead me to an outside site where I was told that I need to download a Flash update, which is actually a virus file. The message came from my elder sister. When I happened to read about Koobface, I immediately scanned my computer and there I found out huge numbers of Virus threats in my computer such as Trojan worm, Malware and other viruses . Now, my computer is protected from the virus. Thanks to Avast and Bit Defender anti-virus softwares!

Any way this is a very old virus; it operates much like mass-mailing worms that used to infest Usenet and e-mail lists. But it's proving an effective tactic on social networks where private messages from friends seem more trustworthy than traditional e-mail, which even the most neophyte web users have come to distrust.

In the mean time, the best way to avoid Koobface is to adhere to the tried and true rule of internet safety: never open unexpected e-mail attachments, videos or other links, even if they are from someone you know.

Should your PC be infected the Koobface worm, then it is best to change your password in your friendster account and running updated anti-virus software to purge the worm from your system.

Friendster must take actions to eliminate and prevent this virus from spreading towards its users!!

Pacquiao vs De La Hoya Fight: A De La Hoya's Greatest Nightmare

The dream match had already came into reality.

It started at about 12:30 in the afternoon (Philippine Time). The fight between Pacman and Golden Boy lasted up to the 8th round with a Technical Knockout (TKO) victory by Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao.

It was a great fight for Manny. He won in almost all rounds and put De La Hoya as the under dog. Multiple combination of power punches was thrown by "the champ" over the face and body of Oscar De La Hoya. Pacquiao was so confident and aggressive even at the start of the fight. With his speed and power punches, not to mentioned his powerful left hand, Manny beaten Oscar so badly. Oscar seems befuddled. The world's no.1 pound for pound boxer moved like a flash, swing left to right, with a right and left hand jabs . His body was very flexible. He was able to avoid the attacks of De La Hoya while maintaining his balance and proper fighting stance.

De La Hoya's face had swollen and almost blown up. He really had a hard time fighting with the champ. As the 9th round was about to begin, De La Hoya and coach Beristain decided to end up the fight. He stood up, went to Pacquiao's corner, and accepted defeat. "I trained hard and I work hard, my style was to go forward and fight, but still Manny was a great fighter. He was a better man and he deserves everything he accomplished tonight", the Golden Boy said as he was interviewed by HBO new anchor Larry Merchant. He was also asked about planning for a retirement, "Let's see what will happen, my heart is still want to fight,
but when your physical doesn't respond, what can you do? I have to be smart and make sure I think about my future plans."",he answered.

After the fight, the champ greeted the Filipino fans and said thank you to all his supporters. As always, the champ said, "I offer this victory to all the Filipinos and to our beloved country, Philippines". Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao was indeed a pride of the Filipino.

The Unusual Appearance of Planet Jupiter and Venus at the night sky

Photos of the Planetary Conjunctions taken by Uncle Steven on Dec. 1,2008 at about 9:00 in the evening (Australian Time). This was an actual photo of the planetary conjunction in Perth, Australia.

Something appeared in the night sky that attracted the attention of even those who normally don't even care watching.

I started to stare at the moon rising at around 6 o'clock in the evening with two large silvery stars-the Planet Jupiter and Venus. It looked like a smiley; the two planets were on top of the moon which served as the eyes and the moon below it, smiling. Some astronomers said it was a Planetary conjunction. A close conjunction between three bright solar system objects: the Moon, Planets Venus and Jupiter forming an object.
It took me about 10-15 minutes looking at the spectacular scene in the sky. It was very unusual scene at the night sky. I couldn't stop myself from smiling as the moon brought a great impression to viewers. It reminded us that despite some undesirable occurrences we should still be happy because indeed, it is still a great world to live.

My elder sister Michelle who is currently in Australia called me
just to made sure that I have seen it too. She was watching together with Uncle Steven, Tita Linda and my cousin Edward. They were amazed by the things appeared in the sky. Most of my friends and relatives who have seen it were able to smile back at the happy-looking moon. The Planet Jupiter and Venus started to disappear at around 8:20 in the evening (Philippine Time).
