PASKO SA SUGBO '08

As we headed to Mango Ave. to chill out and drink some cold Redhorse (YEAh!!), we dropped by at Fuente Osmeña Circle. We had a picture taking with the huge Christmas Tree sponsored by M. Lhuiller. We went around and looked for beautiful views. I eventually recognized cool designs of Lanterns made of indigenous materials. I have taken some pictures of the Lanterns I liked the most. There were Lanterns made of empty coca-cola plastic bottles, empty coca-cola cans, old cd's, chinese bamboo, and other materials commonly found at home.

Pasko Sa Sugbo is annual Christmas celebration by lighting & decorating the main thoroughfare in Cebu, starting from the Capitol Building down to Plaza Independencia. Other activities include nightly cultural shows by the different schools, parol, Christmas tree & daygon competition.

Part of the celebration is holding a contest showing the creativity of Cebuanos, the Parol Making Contest. Cebuanos were given the chance to display their personally-made "Parol" out of indigenous materials. The "Parols" are decorated on Fuente Rotonda to add beaty to the site and let the public enjoy as they visit the place. More and more people are going there to relax and feel the spirit of Christmas. If you don't have money to go to malls or spend money drink beer at bars just to relax, then it's a nice place to go.

HABAGAT Hawaiian Party Experience!

Sacred Heart Center, Cebu City- The annual gathering of Habagat family is an offering of enjoyment, give-aways and a party like no others for all Habagat employees. It was very successful and indeed a great experience for us On-the-Job Trainees (OJT). Together with Mariel, Daisy, Vernon and Rio, we have presented a comical skit in order for us to have grades (hehe..lol). The comical skit was entitled 'Everything". It talked about God's greatest sacrifice. We were very happy because unexpectedly we won. We were not supposed to be part of the contest but thank you to Maam Famela for helping us to be part of it. We were very overwhelmed not because they gave us a standing ovation but it's all because they have recognized God. They have realized how good is God and praise God for everything He did for the mankind. It was not for the prize, definitely. We offered it all for God.

It was the first time in the history of Habagat to let OJT get involved in the presentation. Were so much pressured because they expected a lot from us. Even our Gen. Manager was so excited and expected the best presentation. That's why we tried our best. Although, we have practiced only once but then through cooperation and concentration among teammates, it was made possible.

We were being given P3,000 pesos,1 pack of mentos candies, and a certificate of appreciation from the Habagat Management. All the muscle pains I had during the practices were paid back. I have performed the comical skit twice and it was another fulfilling sacrifice I did. What made me very very happy when Sir Lester's wife said to me with a smile on her face "Congratulations, It was very nice. I have the message". It made me even more proud of myself and my teammates for delivering the God's message properly.

Koobface Virus attacks Friendster Users

Koobface, which already made the rounds on MySpace, Facebook and is now worming its way through Friendster . The Koobface virus uses Friendster's private messaging system to infect computers via a shared video.

Friendster users are under attack from a virus sweeping through the online social network. The virus is technically a trojan worm that disguises itself as a message from a registered friendster user.

Once the virus is installed, it will try to grab sensitive data off your PC, like credit card numbers.

I was one of the victims of Koobface virus. I was enticed to click on a misspelled video or picture link that directs to a malicious web site. A video link (shared by an infected friend) was send with the message, "You look just awesome in this new movie." Clicking the link lead me to an outside site where I was told that I need to download a Flash update, which is actually a virus file. The message came from my elder sister. When I happened to read about Koobface, I immediately scanned my computer and there I found out huge numbers of Virus threats in my computer such as Trojan worm, Malware and other viruses . Now, my computer is protected from the virus. Thanks to Avast and Bit Defender anti-virus softwares!

Any way this is a very old virus; it operates much like mass-mailing worms that used to infest Usenet and e-mail lists. But it's proving an effective tactic on social networks where private messages from friends seem more trustworthy than traditional e-mail, which even the most neophyte web users have come to distrust.

In the mean time, the best way to avoid Koobface is to adhere to the tried and true rule of internet safety: never open unexpected e-mail attachments, videos or other links, even if they are from someone you know.

Should your PC be infected the Koobface worm, then it is best to change your password in your friendster account and running updated anti-virus software to purge the worm from your system.

Friendster must take actions to eliminate and prevent this virus from spreading towards its users!!

Pacquiao vs De La Hoya Fight: A De La Hoya's Greatest Nightmare

The dream match had already came into reality.

It started at about 12:30 in the afternoon (Philippine Time). The fight between Pacman and Golden Boy lasted up to the 8th round with a Technical Knockout (TKO) victory by Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao.

It was a great fight for Manny. He won in almost all rounds and put De La Hoya as the under dog. Multiple combination of power punches was thrown by "the champ" over the face and body of Oscar De La Hoya. Pacquiao was so confident and aggressive even at the start of the fight. With his speed and power punches, not to mentioned his powerful left hand, Manny beaten Oscar so badly. Oscar seems befuddled. The world's no.1 pound for pound boxer moved like a flash, swing left to right, with a right and left hand jabs . His body was very flexible. He was able to avoid the attacks of De La Hoya while maintaining his balance and proper fighting stance.

De La Hoya's face had swollen and almost blown up. He really had a hard time fighting with the champ. As the 9th round was about to begin, De La Hoya and coach Beristain decided to end up the fight. He stood up, went to Pacquiao's corner, and accepted defeat. "I trained hard and I work hard, my style was to go forward and fight, but still Manny was a great fighter. He was a better man and he deserves everything he accomplished tonight", the Golden Boy said as he was interviewed by HBO new anchor Larry Merchant. He was also asked about planning for a retirement, "Let's see what will happen, my heart is still want to fight,
but when your physical doesn't respond, what can you do? I have to be smart and make sure I think about my future plans."",he answered.

After the fight, the champ greeted the Filipino fans and said thank you to all his supporters. As always, the champ said, "I offer this victory to all the Filipinos and to our beloved country, Philippines". Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao was indeed a pride of the Filipino.

The Unusual Appearance of Planet Jupiter and Venus at the night sky

Photos of the Planetary Conjunctions taken by Uncle Steven on Dec. 1,2008 at about 9:00 in the evening (Australian Time). This was an actual photo of the planetary conjunction in Perth, Australia.

Something appeared in the night sky that attracted the attention of even those who normally don't even care watching.

I started to stare at the moon rising at around 6 o'clock in the evening with two large silvery stars-the Planet Jupiter and Venus. It looked like a smiley; the two planets were on top of the moon which served as the eyes and the moon below it, smiling. Some astronomers said it was a Planetary conjunction. A close conjunction between three bright solar system objects: the Moon, Planets Venus and Jupiter forming an object.
It took me about 10-15 minutes looking at the spectacular scene in the sky. It was very unusual scene at the night sky. I couldn't stop myself from smiling as the moon brought a great impression to viewers. It reminded us that despite some undesirable occurrences we should still be happy because indeed, it is still a great world to live.

My elder sister Michelle who is currently in Australia called me
just to made sure that I have seen it too. She was watching together with Uncle Steven, Tita Linda and my cousin Edward. They were amazed by the things appeared in the sky. Most of my friends and relatives who have seen it were able to smile back at the happy-looking moon. The Planet Jupiter and Venus started to disappear at around 8:20 in the evening (Philippine Time).

Mumbai Siege is over

Photos taken from abcnews.com
Mumbai, India- The Mumbai siege has ended after 60 hours of attacks by Indian Commandos. It was the worst terrorist attack in the country's history. The terror rage has ended up resulting to more than 195 people killed and almost 300 people were injured. The dead people includes 6 Canadians, 2 American rabbi, and many other foreign nationals. The series of attacks were executed in ten different locations including railway station, Jewish Center, Oberoi Hotel, Mumbai Hotel and other places of India's financial capital. A British politician fortunately escaped from Taj Mahal Hotel. As he was escaping, Sajjad Karim saw one of the gunmen smiled as he started to fire his machine gun in the lobby of the hotel. Lately, the gunman was captured and identified as Ajmal Asmir Kasar a 21 year-old member of Lashkar-e-Taiba "Army of the Righteous". He is a laborer and belongs to a poor family in Pakistan. He was responsible for the attack in the railway station in Mumbai. The chaos has ended on Nov. 29 and it leaves a question to Indian Security Forces, "who were these infiltrators and who were responsible for these attacks".

Spectacular Sky Scene Monday Evening

Look to the southwest after sunset on Dec. 1 for a close conjunction between three bright solar system objects: the Moon, Venus, and Jupiter. If you have binoculars, you might even be able to fit all three of them in the field of view. Between now and then, you can see Jupiter and Venus getting closer together each evening.

Every once in a while, something will appear in the night sky that will attract the attention of even those who normally don't bother looking up. It's likely to be that way on Monday evening, Dec. 1.

A slender crescent moon, just 15-percent illuminated, will appear in very close proximity to the two brightest planets in our sky, Venus and Jupiter.

People who are unaware or have no advance notice will almost certainly wonder, as they cast a casual glance toward the moon on that night, what those two "large silvery stars" happen to be? Sometimes, such an occasion brings with it a sudden spike of phone calls to local planetariums, weather offices and even police precincts. Not a few of these calls excitedly inquire about "the UFOs" that are hovering in the vicinity of our natural satellite.

Very bright objects

Venus has adorned the southwestern twilight sky since late August. No other star or planet can come close to matching Venus in brilliance. During World War II, aircraft spotters sometimes mistook Venus for an enemy airplane. There were even cases in which Venus drew antiaircraft fire.

This winter, Venus is the unrivaled evening star that will soar from excellent to magnificent prominence in the southwest at nightfall. The interval by which it follows the Sun will increase from nearly three hours on Dec. 1 to almost four hours by Jan. 1. It's probably the first "star" you'll see coming out after sunset. In fact, if the air is very clear and the sky a good, deep blue, try looking for Venus shortly before sunset.

Jupiter starts December just above Venus and is moving in the opposite direction, dropping progressively lower each evening. By month's end Jupiter meets up with another planet – Mercury – but by then Jupiter is also descending deep into the glow of sunset. In January, Jupiter will be too close to the Sun to see; it's in conjunction with the Sun on Jan. 24.

Earthlit ball

A very close conjunction of the crescent moon and a bright star or planet can be an awe-inspiring naked-eye spectacle. The English poet, critic and philosopher, Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772-1834) used just such a celestial sight as an ominous portent in his epic, "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner." In addition, there are juxtaposed crescent moon and star symbols that have appeared on the flags of many nations, including Turkey, Pakistan, Malaysia, Algeria, Mauritania, and Tunisia.

Also on Monday evening, you may be able to see the full globe of the moon, its darkened portion glowing with a bluish-gray hue interposed between the sunlit crescent and not much darker sky. This vision is sometimes called "the old moon in the young moon's arms." Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) was the first to recognize it as what we now call "earthshine."

As seen from the moon, the Earth would loom in the sky some 3.7 times larger than the moon does for us. In addition, the land masses, the oceans and clouds make the Earth a far better reflector of sunlight as compared to the moon. In fact, the Earth's reflectivity varies as clouds, which appear far more brilliant than the land and seas, cover greater or lesser parts of the visible hemisphere. The result is that the Earth shines between 45 and 100 times more brightly than the moon.

The Earth also goes through phases, just as the moon does for us, although they are opposite from what we see from Earth. The term for this is called "complementary phases." On Nov. 27, for example, there was a new moon for us, but as seen from the surface of the moon that day, there appeared in the lunar sky a brilliant full Earth. A few nights later, as the sliver of a crescent moon begins to appear in our western twilight sky, its entire globe may be glimpsed.

Sunlight is responsible for the slender crescent, yet the remainder of the moon appears to shine with a dim blush-gray tone. That part is not receiving sunlight, but shines by virtue of reflected earthlight: the nearly full Earth illuminating the otherwise dark lunar landscape. So earthshine is really sunlight which is reflected off Earth to the moon and then reflected back to Earth.

Keeping it all in perspective

Keep in mind that this head-turning display of three celestial objects crowded together will be merely an illusion of perspective: the moon will be only about 251,400 miles (403,900 km) from Earth, while Venus is nearly 371 times farther away, at 93.2 million miles (149.67 million km). Meanwhile, Jupiter is almost 2,150 times farther away than our natural satellite at 540.3 million miles (869.0 million km).

Those using binoculars or a small telescope will certainly enjoy the almost three-dimensional aspect of the moon, but Venus will be rather disappointing appearing only as a brilliant blob of light, for right now, it's a small, featureless gibbous disk. That will change in the coming weeks, however, as Venus approaches Earth and the angle it makes between us and the Sun allows it to evolve into a "half-moon" phase in mid January, and a lovely crescent phase of its own during the latter part of February and March.

Jupiter on the other hand is a far more pleasing sight with its relatively large disk, cloud bands and its retinue of bright Galilean satellites. All four will be in view on Monday evening, with Callisto sitting alone on one side of Jupiter, Ganymede, Io and Europa will be on the other side. Io and Europa will in fact, appear very close to each other, separated by only about one-sixth the apparent width of Jupiter.

Venus 'eclipse' for Europe

As beautiful as the view of Venus, Jupiter and the moon will be from North America, an even more spectacular sight awaits those living in parts of Western Europe where the moon will pass in front of Venus.

Astronomers refer to this phenomenon as an "occultation," taken from the Latin word occultre, which means "to conceal." This eye-catching sight will be visible in complete darkness across much of Eastern Europe. Farther west, Venus will disappear behind the dark part of the moon either during evening twilight or just before the Sun sets. When Venus emerges, it will look like a brightening jewel on the slender lunar crescent. For virtually all of Europe, the Sun will have set by then, the exception being southern Portugal (including Lisbon).

Such favorable circumstances are quite rare for any given location. For example, the last time London was treated to such a favorably placed Venus occultation such was back on October 7, 1961. And after 2008, there will not be another similarly favorable Venus occultation for the United Kingdom until January 10, 2032. So be sure to make the most of this upcoming opportunity.

Hatton wanted Pacquiao to be on his next bout!

The British Boxing Champion gave his British fans a best fight ever after his dramatic loss with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Hatton beat down Malignaggi with his super power punches until the 11th round. He had proven that he is the strongest boxer in his division.

"Hatton started like a house on fire, putting the pressure on Malignaggi right at the opening round, and the pattern never changed until the eleventh round",
PhilBoxing.com said.

Due to a raging power right hand jabs from the "Hit Man", Malignaggi trainer Buddy McGirt jumped into the ring to stop the bout at 28 seconds of the 11th round as he concluded defeat on his ward.

Hatton's right hand jabs was very effective over Malignaggi.
Hatton threw a total of 516 punches of which 124 landed, while Malignaggi only threw 342 where only 91 landed.

Malignaggi threw more jabs, 209 to 139 but managed to land only 66 of them.

The main difference was in the power punches connected, as Hatton threw 377 of them with 99 finding their mark. Malignaggi unleashed only 133 power punches, and only 25 landed.

Hatton was so dominant as he won in all rounds in two judges' scorecards, while the third judge only gave one round to Malignaggi before the stoppage.

Malignaggi's face was a mass of welts and bruises by the sixth round and he was never really in the fight after the early stages.

The "Hit Man" said in an interview that fighting with the no. 1 pound for pound boxer of the world Manny Pacquiao would be his next interest.

Magic Man's man defeat against Hatton might be an end up of his boxing career. Malignaggi said before the fight that if he would loss the fight then he might decide to have a premature retirement.

He was suffering a lot with hand injuries with his previous fights. He had gone several hand surgeries and was even told by his doctor to stop from boxing career as this injuries would lead to arthritis in the future.

God's Pharmacy

A friend has sent this to me and instantly I have realized that every creation He made has a purpose. And we, humans are very fortunate because He's giving us everything we need. Its up to us how to survive in this tricky life!

God left us a great clue as to what foods help what part of our body!
God ' s Pharmacy!Its Amazing!

A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye... and YES, science now shows carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.

A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart has four chambers and is red. All of the research shows tomatoes are loaded with lycopine and are indeed pure heart and blood food.

Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all o f the research today shows grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing food.

A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds on the nut are just like the neo-cortex. We now know walnuts help develop more than three (3) dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function.

Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.

Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and many more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23 % sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don ' t have enough sodium in your diet, the body pulls it from the bones, thus making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.

Avocados, Eggplant and Pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female - they look just like these organs. Today 's research shows that when a woman eats one avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight, and prevents cervical cancers. And how profound is this? I t takes exactly nine (9) months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (modern science has only studied and named about 141 of them).

Figs are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow. Figs increase the mobolity of male sperm and increase the numbers of Sperm as well to overcome male sterility.

Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas and actually balance the glycemic index of diabetics.

Olives assist the health and function of the ovaries

Oranges, Grapefruits, and other Citrus fruits look just like the mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of th e breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts.

Onions look like the body ' s cells. Today ' s research shows onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes. A working companion, Garlic, also helps eliminate waste materials and dangerous free radicals from the body.

God is so good,right???
