Mactan Newtown: An Eastwood City soon to rise in Mactan

Megaworld Corporation visited Cebu, bringing opportunities to Cebuanos! Megaworld, the developer of Eastwood City in Libis, McKinley Hill in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City and the Newport City in NAAIA Terminal 3 (housing Resorts World Manila), launched their new project "Mactan Newtown". This is another Eastwood City rising in Mactan Island, Cebu.

THE MACTAN NEWTOWN:

One World Center

A 5-storey BPO-ready building with a retail component. Recently completed in May 2012, this building is ready for occupancy. Just like in Eastwood in 1999, the first food outlet will be McDonald’s, which is set to open in September 2012. This will be the biggest McDonald outlet in Cebu. Other stores to open soon will be a coffee shop and a convenience store. The specs are as follows:

- Bare shell handover with an airconditioning system
- About 1,500 sqm per floor
- N+2 power capability
- 2 side core elevators and 2 fire exits service for the 4 office floors
- One World Centre has a GFA of 9,000 sqm. with 200 sqm. for retail
- 1,000 BPO seats (estimated 1,500 employees)

Two World Center

Another 5-storey BPO-ready building with a retail component, similarly-configured as One World Center. Construction starts on July 2012. Two World Centre will have a GFA of 10,600 sqm.

8 Newtown Boulevard

This development will house 4 residential towers (716 residential units), a 7,250 sqm retail component on the ground floor, and 3 floors of office space with a floor plate of 12,700 sqm each. Construction is under way since January 2012 and should be completed in 30 to 36 months’ time.

- Newtown Boulevard will be the NEW MANGO AVENUE with mango trees on the sidewalks.
- One Pacific Towers
- 3 residential towers, 1 BPO tower

A General Concern:

As an Island resident, I just hope that the Local Government is prepared enough for the rising problem such as heavy traffic, pollution and floods. They should already have a strategic plan to control or even eradicate these problems.
